Selas K988 Fluid Process Burner
The K988 Burner is ideal for retrofitting existing furnaces or for new installations.
The requirements for low NOx emission from petrochemical furnaces have created an industry-wide demand for burners that produce low NOx. The Selas Series K988 ULNx Inspirator Burners meet this demand while providing other advantages such as low initial cost, low burner installation cost and low maintenance. These burners are ideal for retrofitting existing furnaces or for new installations. They can be used with either brick or fiber walls.
About the K988 ULNx Burner
Selas ULNX Burners give superior heating uniformity. Their flame develops along the wall, emanating from the burner tip. The flat flame tip is designed to give a all-hugging flame of minimum thickness. Flames are confined to the immediate vicinity of the hotface, thereby protecting the alloy tubes in front from flame impingement. This lowers maintenance costs since the uniform tube temperature increases process tube life and decreases coking.
In most instances, replacement of existing burners with Selas ULNx Burners is a simple matter. Certain installations use burner cups while others use burner tile.
Selas ULNx Burners are also easy to maintain without shutting down the furnace. Fuel to an individual burner can be shut off and the burner loosened and removed from the outside of the furnace, The spare burner can then be inserted and put into use while the removed burner is serviced.
The nominal firing rate of the K988-501L ULNx Burner is 1,350,000 Btu/h, LHV (396 KW) with primary and secondary air, and a furnace draft at least 0.2” W.C. (50PA). Typically the operating fuel pressure is 20 psig (1.4 bar, gauge) and turndown is 3:1. The burner can be customized to fit special application requirements. Consult Selas for other capacities.
ULNx Inspirator Burners can be operated without a silencer. However, to meet OSHA noise standards, silencers are available as optional equipment.
ULNx Inspirator Burners have remarkably low emission of nitrogen oxides, less than 25 ppmv (50 mg/Nm³ referenced to 3% O₂ dry flue products) depending on excess air, furnace temperature and certain other variables.
Note: The aforementioned data represents typical values which are subject to variations. The values should not be used for specification purposes.
ULNx is the Selas designation for its patented ultra low NOx burner.
